FLASH DRIVE
David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.” Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”
1 Samuel 17:32-37
I JUST NOW PUT A BRAND NEW FLASH DRIVE IN FOR BACKUP. IT IS SO CUTE! My husband bought it for me just as I asked – at Caribou Coffee! It is shaped like a tiny, white cup and has the Caribou logo on it – it makes me smile – and that’s a good thing! The reason I specifically asked for this darling flash drive is – like sugar needs to be stirred in the cup – so does the soul, spirit and body need stirring. This is the refreshing!
As I pray for wisdom, seek wisdom, study wisdom – I have come to know it is wisdom to stir yourself up! Beloved, just as David, I stir myself up! No one can do that for me. Re-read the Scriptures above. Take note: David told Saul: “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.”
God loved David and called him a man after His own heart. Nothing better could be said about any man: After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’ (Acts 13:22)
Here was a man still calling himself Saul’s servant, knowing he would be the next king. He was immediately willing to fight the profane Philistine, Goliath – and fight him unafraid. Why? He stirred himself up. He remembered the great accomplishments he had done because the LORD rescued him! David gave all glory to the LORD God Almighty as he recited to Saul his own past victories (not defeats!) David, Saul’s servant, killed both the lion and the bear — and — he would kill that uncircumcised Philistine because Goliath had defiled the armies of the living God!
So, I stir myself up too. I study the heroes of the Bible (and heroes of today.) This flash drive reminds me of my review from Kirkus Review. The reviewer spoke of readers enjoying my first volume of “Joy Stories” while drinking coffee at a coffee shop. (Of course, I think of Caribou.) This is not egotistical feeding. God gave me giftings, talents, desires, goals and dreams. He gets all the glory because I know without Him I can do nothing.
So, as I prepare to write my books and bless you with this free website, I stir myself up that I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, all the time. His mercies endure forever. AND, He has work for me to do so that I may be a blessing to God and to all who receive and cherish Truth – Jesus Christ – the soon coming King, the Lion from the tribe of Judah!
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FROM THIS “JOY JEM”
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.
Psalm 19:7
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.
Acts 3:19-20
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Revelation 5:1-5
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
