YESTERDAY I WAS AT TARGET. I always love going there!
I am definitely a people-watcher. As Duane was looking down an aisle I had no interest in I waited farther away. I found a way to spend my time more productively, finding something much more interesting and precious! I was blessed to observe a little baby boy sitting in the cart while his beautiful mother was strolling down and looking around.
I’m certainly not shy any longer (thank God!) So I started smiling and waving to him. His loving mother noticed immediately. As I continued to smile and wave at this baby made in the image and likeness of God, Duane said: “He’s smiling at me!” He was! I wanted one too! So I got his attention and got more (so did Duane!) than one smile!
You know what? This boy could curl his tongue! I’ve never seen a baby curl his tongue before in my life! Boy! That was fun! And: he smiled! He smileda lot! And so did his dear mamma!
I took time to ask her how old he was and told her, “He’s beautiful!” At one point she kissed him on the head. And: I was blessed to see them a couple more times during both of our shopping.
This morning as I thought about loving babies, being thankful their mothers’ didn’t murder them, thanking God for His creation of babies, growing into mothers and fathers, I reflected on this: this woman was given an experience (all glory to God!) of someone loving her son, me a stranger. But hopefully we are not. Hopefully she’s my sister in Christ whom I don’t know well yet.
I love to imagine this loving and thankful mother going home and telling her husband about this woman (me) who paid great attention to their precious baby boy! God’s children loves all babies!
Beloved, I know if it were me, I’d never forget!
Would you?
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
