OR…
are you celebrating a dark celebration today? Every day?!
REFUSE TO BE UGLY…
I CHOOSE THIS AS ONE OF MY THEMES IN LIFE
and strive to impress this theme on my entire household… I refuse to be ugly! You should too! Ugliness is not just in physical appearance – presenting a hateful frown. It is choosing to be that ungodly, fully selfish person – or having an “I’m better than you!” attitude… It is ugly to be unpleasant! It is ugly to be disgusting to God and man! It is ugly to choose being ugly!
Ugly is as ugly does!
Several years ago God gave me yet another great idea: make a concordance for each one of my three granddaughters. Each would be an individual work for an individual lady. A concordance, for those of you who don’t know, is an alphabetical list of topics by an author, it’s an index: and like the Strong’s Concordance, it can stand alone, without a book.
I first chose my topics: the Trinity, child of God, forgiveness, beauty, lips, God’s family, creation, fun, health, money, strength, joy, and He’s coming…. These topics covered a lot of the most necessary of beliefs. Next, I decided these would be little concordances. I say ‘little’ because although the concordances were only
5″ X 8″, yet each topic has mighty power due to the inerrant, infallible Scriptures which accompanied them.
These little concordances would be easy and lovely for my girls to pick up and review from time to time, not heavy and awkward, thereby encouraging them to meditate on the meanings: a very attractive little book with a powerful punch!
Lovingly, Scriptures were placed one page, with the opposite page making it also a word picture with stickers designating a variety of motifs, colours and shapes — drawing together the Word of God and visual examples…
My concordances were daintily small – but powerful! They literally took days to make (and many, many stickers. They are not cheap — neither am I!) They are so very, very cute! And meaningful! From the beginning of each cover to the last page, every page was covered with the written and visual proof of God’s glory and our desire to glorify Him! Amen! These little concordances even had a safety band to wrap around them so they wouldn’t open unless one would purposefully move the band back and carefully open the books: they are truly books of treasures! Each one started out with a beautiful picture of the particular granddaughter to whom it belonged- giving them a memory of their young, natural beauty and impressing on their beautiful souls their need for God and His love…
I REFUSE TO BE UGLY was my chosen theme, because, Beloved, ugliness is a choice. Ugliness is in the spiritual sense is what God hates. Ugliness has quite a long list. Refusing to be ugly is refusing to be like the father of lies: hating what he loves to do… what he loves to do to us – killing, stealing and destroying. He also hatefully wants us to do the same evil acts to others!
Not going to happen — for those who refuse to be ugly!
Jesus Christ is the light of the world
BUT:
DO YOU KNOW?!
WE CHRISTIANS ARE TOO!
Read these words from Jesus Christ, your Maker!
Matthew 5:14
“You are the light of the world.”
Be smart: refuse to by ugly! And live long and prosper!
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS “JOY STORY”
WE ARE BEAUTIFUL IN CHRIST BECAUSE:
HE HAS REMOVED OUR SIN AND FORGOTTEN THEM!
Psalm 103:10-12
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Isaiah 43:25
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
WE ARE RADIANTLY IN LOVE WITH GOD!
Psalm 34:5
Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
WE ARE STRONG!
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
