THIS PARTICULAR CELEBRATION has always been one of my very favorites, even growing up in the very ungodly atmosphere of my childhood… I believed in being thankful! I just never took time from childhood age up until young adulthood to focus on Who to be thankful to!
Now: it’s a no-brainer… for I have repented. My heart is no longer calloused, my eyes are no longer deliberately dim; my light shines in unending love for God eternal, immortal, the only true God!
Selah.
Psalm 14:1
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
Perhaps I didn’t really qualify myself as a fool because when I thought about God (which truly was rarely! because I just wanted to have fun…) I knew He was real. I knew He was Jesus… I knew the Bible was holy and no other book was. I knew there was no such thing as purgatory, priests could marry and babies didn’t go to Hell. How? God!
God has written His truths upon my heart and I knew so much even as a child, as a teenager, as a heathen adult: I just didn’t care — back then.
THANKSGIVING DAY IN AMERICA:
BECAUSE THE DARKNESS is soon passing away and the Light has come, I love this American tradition. It glorifies the true and living God no matter what anyone says!
Selah.
YES! I LOVE THIS HOLIDAY because of its definition: being thankful to God… I love this holiday because of family fellowship and prayers, the grateful heart, smells of turkey, stuffing, pumkin AND pecan pies, potatoes: and these are things only God can provide! There is no other Creator! There is no other way! There is no other Truth!
BY THE WAY:
Psalm 111:5
He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.
Truly, I have always loved this holiday because God is the One to whom we must give thanks to, or perish… I was somewhat thankful then, I do believe. But now, no longer a wretch, The Potter continues to mold me with His glory, having been justified, I have been found worthy to approach His throne of grace… Join me!
I love now bowing my head as tears of joyful adoration flood my soul to the One who gave us all good things; to the One who washed away all the bad from me, in me, by His holy, holy, holy untainted blood: the blood of Christ.
I love America’s Thanksgiving because it’s a worldwide symbol that God is on the throne, that He provides food for the hungry and mediation for those who are ethnically diversified.
I love Thanksgiving Day because America declares it a day to give thanks to God, to bow your head in unifying love for Him and for your fellow man who also is created in His image and likeness.
I love this holiday because it’s a reminder to all, saint and sinner, the devil is shot to Hell! It’s as good as done!
Revelation 12:10-12
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
HUNGRY for food? Peace? Joy? Health? Wealth? Victory?
Psalm 111:5
He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.
Hebrews 1:8-9
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS JOY STORY!
Romans 2:12-16
All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
2 Thessalonians 2:10
and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
1 John 2:7-8
Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
John 4:23-24
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
