Why? I am Minnesotan. I have learned long ago that God puts people in the boundaries He wants them:
Acts 17:26
From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.
And because He has placed me where it has pleased Him, because He has chosen to create, cleanse and love me, I choose to have joy unspeakable wherever I am!
Selah.
Yes! I am Minnesotan when I was created, formed and born out of my mother’s womb He made me Minnesotan.
(NOTE: Please, please see my SOB! posting! I literally beg you!)
Uff da was one of those phrases that used to annoy me. For some reason, and I have no idea why, it no longer does. I have surrendered to uff da! For some reason, and I have no idea why, I now think it is cute, funny and at times, very appropriate. Keep in mind, it is not a biblical word, so I may rightly say: to me
uff da! is not a swear word and means things such as: Oh no!, Oh boy! or Uh oh!… It may mean this and/or many other things to different folk. It can be an expression of a little bit of dismay. Maybe it means another phrase of silliness. Perhaps, also it may be a very polite point of consternation… I’ve also learned that
uff da! is considered by many a Midwest expression chiefly said to have come from Scandinavia.
PLEASE NOTE THIS EXCELLENT TEACHING: when believing The Bible, teaching it, preaching it, sharing it, loving it… the words to me are never to be used in a way to explain and claim God’s Word. There is always only one interpretation of God’s Truth. The Bible is not an opinion book. It is The Book of God which is incorruptible, infallible, inerrant and everlasting. Use it that way. Opinions don’t count. God’s Word is faultless. Uff da however is a silly, man-made word not at all inspired by God to direct your lifestyle.
As a Christian I am to crucify my flesh, be led by the Spirit and denounce worry as Jesus told me: “Do not worry.” Therefore, I don’t. I am who I am because I have chosen to put on Christ, accept His Word — all of it! — and live Minnesotan. There is nothing wrong with that!
You betcha!
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
