CHEERING YOU ON!
WE ALL LOVE TO HAVE people cheering us on! This past Christmas season I went to a party from my own company (my own church) Living Word Christian Center, pastored by Mac and Lynne Hammond. The term ‘own company’ is found in Acts, chapter four in the King James Version of the Bible.
This particular party was in honor of the medical first responders who volunteer their time freely to give medical care to people in need during any given church service. Others on this team function as crowd control, carrying equipment – and the most important duty of all – prayer. It is a well-organized and devoted team of God’s children who serve in their passion through the medical knowledge and godly wisdom that has been given to them by their Creator.
Of course, it was a great experience. We had a beautiful event of fellowship, fun and food: but; the best part I reflect on (other than the prayer) were the games we played. We went to a place I had never before been to; there were games for people of all ages. We broke into teams to compete and win prizes (giving quite a bit of them to the kids) – all for the love of God, each other and holy fun. Now that’s a party! My brothers and sisters cheered me on as I attempted greatly to be the best at my chosen game. I lost — and yet, I didn’t. I love to win in competitions (I have been blessed with an attitude to never be a sore loser or to be jealous in any way) – I am truly happy for the winner. In sports and games – there are winners and losers. What I cherished so much was people truly cheering for my success and wanting me to win (it brings tears to my eyes right now) because most of these folks hardly knew me – I am not a medical first responder – my husband is: but I was accepted. Even so, all Christians want the best for everyone and want everyone to succeed – in their godly endeavors.
As I came away from that night, remembering being with my own company, I reviewed in my mind the worth, the value of this time spent. One must understand that it is imperative to fellowship with the right people. Not once did I hear God’s name taken in vain. Not once did I hear gossip, coarse talk, complaining… At this party for life – ζωή life / the God kind of life – God was honored, cherished and welcomed in every area of our lives. We do not hide our heads in shame. We do not act one way when we’re with non-Christians and another with our own company. We are stable. We are honest.
A celebration indeed! To be with family whom you know loves God, loves Christians, Israel, and those outside of God’s Covenant and to know they are cheering me on, to know that they are pleased if I had won a game prize, supportive when I didn’t —what a trip! My company and I all wanted the best for each other and ourselves – and that, my beloved, is what God wants for you – His best.
My company and I pray for ya’ll daily. We fight the good fight. And Truth – Jesus Christ – has won! The devil is defeated and I, for one, am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me…
Join the winning team! God is on your side!! He (and we) are cheering you on!
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FROM THIS JEM
(THAT IS: MY JOY ETERNAL MINISTRY GEM – TO YOU!)
Acts 4:23
On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Romans 8:1-2
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:31
If God is for us, who can be against us?
Revelation 3:20
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
