AS YOU READ JUST a few of my protective rescues from God, I invite you to please reflect on all the times (or at least some) God has brought you through unscathed.
THERE WAS A DAY
(actually, more than one. More than I know. And there will be more) which God saved me from discomfort, danger, and even death.
He has done the same for you. Remember the angels your Father has watching over you? (That is: only if you are in covenant with Him. Remember too, children and the unaccountable are covered as well.)
Here are just a few of the perils my God brought me through…
When I was a child I was ‘swimming’ in the lake. I never completed swimming lessons and at this time I had none. I only swam where my feet could always touch the bottom; or, if in a pool, I’d be right near a wall I could immediately grab. My brothers, me, and others were having a great time jumping off a dock. For some reason I had a life jacket on. I’m thinking now: “I don’t know why.” I wasn’t planning to go deep…
God is so great! Always has been, always will be! One of the kids pushed the dock a little farther out and I had no idea he or she did. After more jumps into the lake, I realized I couldn’t touch bottom anymore… And I was terrified! I was little, remember. I think one of my brothers noticed and helped me. It was so long ago. Too bad I can’t remember how I felt safe again and who helped me. I do know I needed help because I was so scared I wasn’t making a plan just to swim (with my life jacket on) back to shore. It really wasn’t that far.
What I remember about that day was the fear I had. I felt I could truly die that day: and at that day God would have taken me to Heaven. I was so little.
Much more recently I was going to take my pug, Riley, outside. It was dark and it was chilly. As I’m standing by the kitchen table I hear God, now my Father for many years, say to me verbatim: “Plead the blood.” I have made it a life line daily to plead the blood. In fact, I had already pled it earlier. But because I was in covenant with God, I heard His voice and I knew what He said. So without hesitation I obeyed And it turned out to be fun!
As Riley and I were outside alone (to the natural eye) she was just starting to squat and we both heard KABOOM! A flash of lightening didn’t warn us in time… I’d have to say poor little Riley got unnerved! Pugs can jump! But thanks and all praise to God: I just laughed! Because He knows everything, He just loves to protect me and show me His glory! This is one glorious victory I’ve shared over and over and over!
Selah and praise the Lord!
DO WHAT HE SAYS!
Why, here’s another one! The simple things… As I was reaching for my dog’s leash on another dark morning, the Holy Spirit said: “Take you raincoat.” Immediately I thought: “I don’t need it.” But again, knowing it was God talking to me, I obeyed and took it. Much to my stupid surprise…
it was raining! Duh!!
Beloved! Never question God. Obey immediately, don’t doubt Him, and live long and prosper!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Before I go, just let me tell you one more. The time God told me: “Go check the kitchen door.” Though usually locked – it was not.
It was three o’clock in the morning…
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS JOY STORY:
Psalm 91:9-13
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
John 10:25-30
Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
