THIS WRITING APPLIES TO ALL PEOPLE: those who adhere to the Word of God and love Him – and those who don’t. Herewith is a great and beneficial insight on how to deal with unwanted, unsolicited calls — including those unwanted people who have the guile to be more than just a little rude!
You are going to love this!
Selah.
NOTE: For those of you who are the problem, we’re on to you! And: I am spreading the answer on how to deal with you by putting you in your place without retaliating your same mean-spirited behavior!
Two nights ago I answered my phone and said, “Hello.” I was believing it was my husband. No one ever calls me late at night, or so I thought.
I was ambushed…
A woman immediately started yammering at me (an excellent word picture here!) Not asking me if this was a good time for me… And the speed of which she talked was ridiculously stupid! If she really wanted to help me in any way, she needed to make herself understandable! “Duh!” on her!!
What did I do? I responded: “I’m not taking time for this now.” She refused to quit, hang up…
Now I am a strong, brilliant woman. I was not about to put up with her dominating me: she had no right. I then told her: “You’re not listening.” Beloved and crabbies, I kept my tone even and my determination even more so. I repeated this and added: “You need to be respectful.” I won! As determined as this hostile (yes, hostile) person was, I refused to let her dominate me, nor would I listen to her! Why?
I love this teaching! Listen and learn!
You see, I had decided not more than four months ago that as I answer my phone, that is to turn it on… and wait….Wait for the person to speak first so I knew if I was willing to respond back.
No, I’m not weird. I’m not hateful, of course. I’m growing in wisdom because my God has told me to ask. And I do!
You see beloved and crabbies, God has impressed upon me for many, many years, my home is also my sanctuary. That is, my sanctuary is a place of refuge, of protection. Here, I have the option of whom I allow in… And this includes what voices I allow to speak to me on my phone in my beloved, God-given sanctuary. Over my phone lines I receive words I choose to listen to, I allow no one to force their words on me! No! Not in my sanctuary!
God’s children are surrounded by people who are only causing trouble; and purposefully so… In addition, we have to listen to music we don’t prefer (or we even hate) when we’re out at many places. We endure hearing conversations with people who are definitely living without God’s guidance. Profanity is a ‘normal’ and ‘accepted’ social standard these days… Why, even at church (the church building – the Church is the believers – not the fake Christians) we hear phonies! This is especially disgusting!!
So: I am on my guard, as you should be, paying attention to what thoughts I keep, what thoughts I cast down, and especially: whom I am willing to fellowship with and take counsel from!
Selah.
Ergo, I’d love you to put this into practice…
Believe in your right to be respected, cherish your home and the privacy you choose to have in it. When the doorbell rings, when the neighbor knocks, when the phone beeps…
choose wisely!
Yes, choose if you are wiling to listen! Wisdom from God is a great and beneficial gift… So is privacy!
END NOTE:
The very next day as my husband and I were sitting and talking, he got a phone call from an exquisitely sweet lady who had business questions for him personally. She asked him if he had a few minutes to talk! That a girl!
Don’t give up…
There are loving, caring people in this trouble-filled world! And they are God’s children (Israel and the Church!)
SCRIPTURES REGARDING THIS JOY STORY:
WATCH YOUR WORDS:
James 3:6
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
1 Peter 4:7-11
The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
GAIN WISDOM:
Proverbs 31:26
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
James 1:2-8
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
DO NOT TOLERATE PEOPLE WHO PURPOSEFULLY ABUSE YOU:
Romans 16:17-18
I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Proverbs 29:11
Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.
DO NOT LET OTHERS DEMEAN OR DISRESPECT YOU:
Matthew 22:35-40
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
1 Peter 2:17
Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.
1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Galatians 3:26-29
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
