WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL there was a song that could sadden me if I let it… Actually, back than being unchurched, I think I remember believing it and it did scare me. Sad.
This song was sung by a very handsome guy with an alluring voice. My kind of handsome too; dark eyes, dark hair, dark skin. The subject, without surprise, was love. As he sang about the importance of love he proclaimed the unimportance of someone who was not yet loved by a romantic interest…
Selah.
I hope you know where I am going.
As a young child and teenager, romance was always on my mind. I can remember having a crush on a boy every year I was in school, starting in kindergarten. Beloved, God wants a woman to marry. That’s in the Bible. And for all you men – what does God say about women?
Genesis 2:18
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Take that you unromantics!
GOOD PLACE TO NOTE HERE the union God orchestrated is this: Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
As this song was played in my younger days as a little girl I always dreamed of a handsome husband, not a live-in. I dreamed of a dark haired, brown eyed man with an olive complexion. And I kind of believed that the lie that I was nobody until somebody loved me! Not the love of a dad and mom, brothers, sisters, grandparents. No, people needed a romantic lover to really be somebody…
What a crock!
This writing is all about what God says and proclaims (as all of my writings are)! It doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you: that would be those people everywhere who care nothing for God. That particular category of mankind is out of date and definitely out of touch…
Selah.
Hopefully this gorgeous man singing this song was not stupid or evil enough to believe that satanic teaching.
I am somebody! You are somebody!
God loves us!
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Beloved: we were loved from the foundations of the world! And for those who love truth also love God!
And for those hidden in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 1:3-7
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
But for those who hate God:
John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
Always your choice…
Selah.
SO: on this Valentine’s Day with all the promotion of romantic love choose first to love God and accept His love:
Matthew 22:35-40
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
and choose a great marriage!
Genesis 2:23-25
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
AND REMEMBER:
You are precious, irreplaceable and loved!
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
