APRIL IN MINNESOTA…
interesting it is. Today is April 21, 2021 and I just changed my top. The weather people say it is thirty-three degrees; but to me it feels like twenty!
Selah.
People interpret things in different ways. And we will be talking about that regarding God’s Word, the Bible. But for right now, first we’ll talk about April; April in Minnesota.
I was born in April on the ninth. I’m sixty-five years old now and I have lived in Minnesota all of my life except one and a half years when I moved to and lived in Los Angeles, California. Didn’t like it…
So I have seen sixty-three Minnesota Aprils; I remember probably fifty-nine. At about three or four I remember looking out of our kitchen window and screaming with great joy: “It’s snowing! It’s snowing!” I remember that kitchen. It was big and it had yellow dining chairs (we also had a formal dining room.) There was a bathroom right off the kitchen – actually, it was more like in the kitchen, off to the side – a full bathroom. I loved that house!
With this Saint Paul snow when I was tiny I remember the beautiful house, the snow and the excitement…
But Satan gets in there (if we let him!) Over the years I started hating snow; not when I was a child. I remember reading a book and a little part of it was about a girl (I think her name was Katy) who put hot potatoes inside her snow pants so she could walk to school more warmly! Fun Minnesota thought! I liked making forts, throwing snowballs, snowmen and even ice skating! I like skating and remember when I got my first pair of skates. My eldest brother (six years above me) took me to a shop nearby our Saint Paul home and helped me get some used skates, gently used.
But as I said, Satan gets in there (if we let him!) He has told me so many things over my sixty-five years. I wish I knew how many… And as I now think of his lies, all lies – there are so many, many things I would do differently. I’m so sorry that I ever sought to do it my way. Frank, beloved, was wrong! Check out the song.
Yes, I listened to the father of lies many times in my life. Once was too often! He used to be my father and now, as you know, I claim Christ Jesus as my only Lord and Savior. God is my Father now! And I won’t leave out the Third Person of the Trinity, the precious and perfect Holy Spirit!
Getting back to April, my birth month… Growing up Minnesotan, I remember what the weather was like during my lifetime (so far – I’m either going to live old, go up in the clouds to meet Jesus in the air before the Tribulation or (my favorite) remain on Earth to bring at least one more soul to Heaven during the Tribulation (with God’s help of course!) He asked me if I was willing…
The Minnesota April weather that I remember the majority of my Minnesota years is this: cold, (cold!) windy, (very windy!) and rainy, rainy, rainy!
One of my young teenage years, I will never forget my mom surprising me and stopped at her work on her day off to pick up a birthday cake from her work for me. A fellow employee made it and it was dynamite! What I remember about this April birthday was the cold, the wind and the rain – it was great! The memory will never leave me!
NOTE: I refuse to get any memory loss! I have writes! Scripture after Scripture telling me Jesus took all of my infirmities!
I remember as a teenage college student it snowed in April slightly… This was either 1975 or 1976. My mother teased me, and I’ll never forget she said: “The gods are punishing me!” She was joking about my birthday! If you remember, my parents never taught me about the Lord, but I knew she was totally being funny about the gods. (I always do hope and I used to pray, but she’s dead now, that my mother would come to Christ.) I had to stay away for reasons I don’t choose to share.
Selah.
Some of you understand even though.
Back to April.
So now it’s 2021, I’m sixty-five. As a Christian for more than half of my life now (I did come to love God way later than I should have) I choose not to complain about snow. I had loved it as a child, started hating it as a stupid and ignorant young adult, and upon the move back to Minnesota from Los Angeles, I learned that I LOVED SNOW! Who’d thought?!
God.
AND HERE IS my point to this story. Some people hate snow, especially in April. Some, like me choose to enjoy the cold and the so-called gloomy weather. I don’t like heat anymore, haven’t for probably twenty years. But I know it is a choice to what temperatures and precipitations I enjoy…
However, the Bible is not open for interpretation. The Bible is the Word of God and Jesus Christ is the Living Word. Below I’m going to give you Scriptures from the Bible to show you the inerrancy, the infallibility, of the Bible – God’s Word.
You may decided to disagree with God. I’m not even willing to state some of the reasons some of you may have: it hurts me too much to think you, who are defiant to God, are headed for Hell (a very real and eternal place.)
Beloved (that is all of you) as I keep aging, I’m always watching and listening to people’s character through their attitudes and behavior and speech. I fully believe most people don’t listen well.
If you don’t love God, if you’re not sure: study Him. And when I say Him, I mean God. There is only One: Father, Son, Spirit. He is One God in Three Persons, Deity, Trinity, Godhead.
Selah.
The seasons on Earth come and go. Things die. There is no reincarnation. When your body stops pumping blood your soul and spirit leave it. Your choice is Heaven or Hell through faith in your father – God or Satan. You must choose.
NOTE: not choosing is choosing Satan.
As I enjoy the snow today (still Wednesday, April 21, 2021), putting on a warmer top, turning up the thermostat and enjoying hot coffee, my boots are nearby and my heart is warmed by God’s love.
Please join me and stay with me!
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS: THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WRITTEN WORD
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Peter 1:20-21
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:11-14
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
