CINDY WAS A NEW GIRL that I instantly liked when I met her. Her younger sister looked so very much like her; she was a real sweetie too.
Actually Cindy was not the new girl, I was. Before my father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis we have moved from Saint Paul to South Saint Paul. Cindy was one of the first girls my age I met. She lived only up the street, same side, about seven houses down.
My excitement as having Cindy as a friend sadly didn’t last long. She, her father, mother, and little sister, Vicky, all moved away. I was so very disappointed. I like her so much! It was easy to remember her because she was pretty and so very nice. In addition, my own name was almost Cindy.
So I had to get over it. I hadn’t known her all that long when they left. I am certain that if had been longer I would have cried for quite a while. That’s how nice and fun I knew this little friend to me was!
I remember her mother driving us to a movie. She was lovely too! It was winter and she hadn’t taken a lot of time to clear the windows of ice from her car. I remember her holding her coffee cup and bending down lower so she would have a clear driving view. I remember her living room, (this was over sixty years ago) so prettily decorated with bright blue beautiful chairs.
Truly, of all the girls my age and near my age, Cindy was the one I would have gotten along with the best. I knew right away how especially sweet she was. I’ll never forget her…
So what do I do about that lost relationship? I’ve asked God that Cindy is my sister in Christ; that all of her family are my godly family also. I am hoping we will see each other in Heaven and remember the good old days that weren’t many…
Sometimes bonds are instantaneous!
Proverbs 27:9
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
