JUST YESTERDAY a name popped into my head. There’s always a reason; there are no coincidences in the kingdom. This was a man whom I knew as a child. I went to his house for lunch on school days. Back then (1966 or so) I only knew of one divorced family, most moms didn’t work outside the home, families were bigger, and my school mates and I walked home for lunch. I had to go to a neighbor’s because my mom was working, my father was home but unable to care for me and my brothers as he had Multiple Sclerosis. Indeed, I would be sad walking by my own house. So off to the neighbor’s house I went, it being at the other end of the block and on the opposite side of the street…
This boy was a different age from me and we didn’t play together. I remember his sister and my brother goofing around together because he or she had a crush on the other one.
As his name came to my head as the Holy Spirit brought it, I went on my computer and found he had died in 2020… I checked out his obituary and found the names of the family. His mom who had made me lunch had passed before him, not surprising. She was much older. Her husband, whom I can’t remember at all, also had passed. Some of his siblings were also gone. This man died at only sixty-two (I am sixty-four.) Funny, I thought he was older than I am. Time doesn’t bring back all memories, sometimes quite the opposite.
Because God had a reason for bringing this former school acquaintance to my memory the only thing I knew to do was to pray for all of his family still living on Earth.
Maybe in Heaven I will learn what this prayer availed.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
