ONCE UPON A TIME I was never afraid of dogs…
This once upon a time was when I was a grade-schooler, before I ever encountered a seemingly ferocious dog; before I ever encountered a genuinely ferocious dog.
I was born in 1956. In the 1960’s as a child and in the 1970’s as a teenager I did not experience many things that our young people experience much sooner at this age than I did. You see, when I was a girl and a teenager, there were no cameras watching you just about everywhere you go, just about everywhere people work. Life was safer back then because so many people were so much more genteel than many are in these times… People were proud to be an American and proud to love the God who gave us all things richly to enjoy. These things were more prominently spoken of. After all, America was founded largely with created documents that focused on the Bible.
Selah.
Yes, life was more peaceful for the most part at school, work, neighborhoods as I was growing up in Minnesota. Crime did not affect the average American in so many satanic ways like it does today. Today we who are wise cherish the Bible and take our authority over the devil, the world, and our own flesh. I strongly recommend memorizing and reciting Psalm 91 daily. I do!
These days I refuse to fear. The LORD God Almighty is also helping me grow in the area of not even feeling fear. Herewith is one excellent example: the dog behind the fence, Ace. My Savior told me to rebuke the spirit of fear. I was feeling intense fear as I took out my two little pugs, Riley (a black female) and Rocky (a fawn male.)
Even little dogs can cause havoc… My two babies would become quite aggressive in their barking. Whether they’d attack Ace was probable.
Selah.
But why? The first time they heard Ace they truly sensed he was aggressive to the point of wanting to bite. Behind the fence (the neighbor’s fence) is where he was. The first time we knew of him he was hard barking, very determined to get through and bite. People like me can spot the difference in a dog’s bark and body language. Furthermore, he tried to put his head under the fence and break into our yard.
He never did break through; and those neighbors would allow him to bark excessively. It was very discomforting… But in my earlier years spoken of, I was never uncomfortable around any dog… I had never experienced vicious dogs nor threatening ones. Ah! That was wonderful! Wonderful to the point that when I was a child, not a teenager, my mother and I were walking home from the store on a snowy day. I remember the temperature was pleasant, the snow was lovely, and the walk was precious. Only partway home we walked by a church. Just like a blessed Christmas story, there on the church steps sat a dog huddled up on cold cement. And he was a big dog! My mom and my hearts immediately went out to this smart, yet sad puppy dog, big puppy dog. I can’t remember if back then my mother or I said we should take him home and try to find the owner. We did. We took turns carrying him. We had to carry him because he had no leash and as long as we were going to keep in safe, it had to be a carry…
Selah.
You know what? Because I had never yet had a threatening nor dangerous dealing with a dog, I went right up to the steps and picked him up! No struggle! No challenge! None, that was, except for how heavy he was. I think he was a German Shepherd. When we got him home, we knew we couldn’t keep him because of what animals we had. (Again, I can’t even remember what dog/s and cat/s we had at that time. It truly was over fifty years ago.) This beautiful, thin, and thankful dog was easy to care for and love. He slept with me! On a twin bed! I almost had enough room… Happy ending! After only a few days my mother contacted a friend and gave this beautiful boy to another boy. He named him Ringo!
MY POINTS:
I was totally fearless of this dog. People cared for their animals back then so much more that you rarely (rarely!) saw any loose dogs; especially ones that looked malnourished. There were no dog parks: people kept their dogs in tow.
As this article is Tina Tales, I want to remind you of God’s glory in creating so very many beautiful animals. He loves them! AND: He wants all of us to cherish them, love them, care for them as well!
Selah.
Animals do pray to God, their Creator, for help:
Psalm 104:21
The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.

WHAT TINA’S TALES ARE:
TINA’S TALES are short stories specifically about our Terrier rescue mix, In addition, I’ll be pleasuring you with stories about other great dogs, or even other fur babies of different species. God has designed so many beautiful ones!
Friends, people with a great ability to love always are enamored by beauty! And dogs are beautiful! They always have a purpose which God has given them: some hunt, some protect, some only and always provide unfaltering companionship! God created them for His pleasure and shares them with us!
And some are too dangerous to live…
Selah.
IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE: animals that kill people are judged… Don’t keep a dangerous dog!
Genesis 9:4-6
“But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.
“Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.
THEIR CREATOR GOD LOVES THEM, CARES FOR THEM, AND TAKES THEM BACK:
Genesis 1:30
And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it – I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.”
Genesis 2:7
the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 6:19-20
You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.
Genesis 7:2-3
Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.
Psalm 36:6
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
Psalm 104:21-22
The lions roar for their pretty and seek their food from God. The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.
Isaiah 11:6-9
The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
Romans 8:18-23
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
