A while ago Duane was talking to me from his work.
Selah!
I love that… But not this particular conversation. We had a new couch coming soon with two new end tables. Beautiful! I had told him he needs to hire someone to take the couch out or see if the furniture store guys (Schneiderman’s) would move it out into the garage for us… He put it off and I was getting concerned.
In this unpleasant conversation he humbugged me at men being stronger than woman. Now this is something that we both firmly believe: for the most part, a man is stronger than a woman, having more upper body strength. So this also bugged me…
Selah.
I had decided how I would deal with this before he came home (without malice and without ungodly anger!) But: the very next day as he just started coming in the house, Duane apologized to me immediately and it almost brought tears to my eyes… My repentant and godly man apologized about his unkind (yes, unkind) words. He is aware that I am not very physically strong when it comes to moving and lifting. He apologized for saying he would get Sue to help him (a neighbor I very much dislike.) He understood he was 100% wrong: and not only that, but mean spirited…
His apology went a long, long way!
LESSON:
Men, sometimes you are jerks!
AND: so are we!
Apologize when you are and call us to do the same!
Selah.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
