don’t say anything at all!
Here is yet another great biblical truth: the above statement, “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say anything at all is.” is bogus.
How many of you know that this statement is truly bogus?
Selah.
Surprised? Don’t be. You shouldn’t be. Why? Because for those of you who are surprised, I know that you are not reading your Bible. Or perhaps you discount the Bible. Either way, you are uniformed, misinformed, or flagrantly despising the Bible.
Selah.
The Bible is an open book. It is the top Book. It is the only Book that is consistently true, totally accurate, dividing people who do not humble themselves from those who do. The Bible is the Word of God; God-breathed, dividing those who are ignoble from those who choose to love the true and living God: in truth, separating the saints who choose righteousness and peace from the sinners who want what they want when they want it; thereby creating false circumstances for themselves of why they want it…
But enough of that. Every truth in life must be in agreement with God. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; the only way to Father God.
Selah.
So why is this well-known and trite statement, “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say anything at all is.” false? Perhaps because of a deliberate lie from some (definitely it is by Satan, the prime enemy of all human souls) or misinformation given by seemingly kind people. Again: this seemingly benign statement is out of agreement with the Bible.
Let’s take just a few examples of why this stated sentence, “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say anything at all is.” is in fact bogus:
Go with me to the book of Galatians, chapter two. Starting in verse eleven, Paul opposes Cephas. Cephas (Peter) was clearly – wrong. You can examine these Scriptures for yourself (that’s what the noble Bereans would do. See Acts 17:11.)
Was the Apostle Paul, who was willing if it were possible to be cut off from Christ for the sake of his Jewish brethren, a man likely to rebuke Peter out of evil intent? I say no!
Romans 9:1-5
I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit—I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
Then there’s the case of John the Baptist, a very sharp man who is unafraid of and unwilling to aid sinful men. This one of the greatest revelations God can give to a sinful man through a holy man:
Matthew 3:7
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
Was John hateful; wrongfully judgmental? Heavens: no! What did he then go on to say?
Matthew 3:8-10
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Is not this stern warning a warning to people who needed this holy fear struck into their unholy hearts? I’d say yes!
Did Jesus love Judas? Did He give Judas opportunities to repent? Did Jesus want Judas to end up in Hell?
Jesus wanted to be a friend to Judas; Judas’ only Lord and Savior! Not willing to poke a sinner in the eye with a sharp stick… the Spirit of Truth is truthful and honest. This, without any doubt, sometimes includes God’s chastisement!
Thank Him for it!

SCRIPTURES REGARDING THIS JOY STORY:
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
John 15:15
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
1 John 3:16-18
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
Romans 5:7
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
James 4:4
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God?
Revelation 12:11
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
