SOMETIMES (and often) you just have to say: “No.”
I just came back from taking my beloved cat, Pewter, to the vet. Checkup time.
No one told me there was construction there. No one told me to go to their other office – a different direction – instead. No. I actually got out of the car after first parking in the wrong lot (a dentist’s office building), turning around, coming back and trying again. I got out of the car with Pewter in her protective (very protective) kennel. I walked only partway to our vet. There was a wrecking ball swinging to the top of the building.
No.
I don’t feel safe and I am not leaving my cat in an office where I don’t feel safe for her.
No.
She just went for a ride…
When we got home my husband and our dog were back from a short walk. It’s cold outside today and it feels way colder than thirty-three degrees.
When Pewter was immediately set loose out of her kennel, I called the vet. I will not – do not want to lie. I simply told the lady that I had a 10:00 AM appointment; but I didn’t feel safe being there and I will call and reschedule…
Pewter and I are taking a break. She’s not going again for three weeks. Yay!!
LESSON: listen to God first and if in doubt (as I was) say, “No.:
Remember, there were people God told not to go to work during 911. Listening to Him saved their lives!
I don’t know if God didn’t want me to go – but all morning long I didn’t want to take her. Better safe than injured.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
