PLEASE STAY WITH ME IN THIS CRUCIAL TEACHING: it is a Joy Story!
SUICIDE IS A VERY HORRIFIC THING…
it is never the answer.
Years ago I have had the privilege of counseling two men separately on this always relevant subject. Thank God both of these men, both past their thirty’s, listened to my wise counsel. All glory to God! I am thankful they listened to me because I love the Lord and listen to Him, He guides me and helps me more than I could possibly ever know. And He can and is wanting to do the same through you.
Selah.
God knows sin is wrong, it is treason against His ways. Never was there a ‘Plan B.’ God is faithful and God is good. Because He is holy, holy, holy, He sent Christ as our Rescuer…
Suicide is sin: it is self-murder. One may never understand why, when someone is so low, so empty and overcome with hopelessness, why they don’t just wait… Truly it can only get better. This thought though would be in the natural world – not God’s kingdom. For our great God (and He is the God of all, believers or not) has designed each and every one in His image and likeness. What’s more, He has a plan for each and every one of us. Not one of us has ever followed His plan totally. We’ve sinned. We need a Savior, a Forgiver, a Redeemer. He is Christ Jesus! He has come to give a great life! Including peace…
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
PLEASE REMEMBER: I did have a horrible childhood. I know what absolute pain is.
The key target, the fiery dart, Satan slings are lies. Satan, the enemy of all souls (whether believer or not) is the father of lies. The Bible tells us there is no truth in him. True, of course. Without any question, Satan loves self-murder…
SUICIDE IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF SIN because some may think suicide only affects the individual (it does not) and it is never forgivable (it is) – suicide always end in defeat (it does not necessarily.) Most who contemplate or follow through in committing suicide are clearly not thinking right; not seeing there is a way out and a better day to come. The self-murdered has chosen spiritual blindness in his wrong belief, choosing the lies of the devil rather than God’s truth…
The self-murdered man certainly felt defeated. He had not kept his mind in perfect peace as God told him to do in Isaiah, chapter twenty-six. Instead, Beloved, he believed τοῦ πονηροῦ – that’s the enemy of our souls, the evil one, Satan. Be certain: his act, his self-murder, does not affect only himself, the self-induced victim affects his family, his friends, his acquaintance – his first responders who tried to save him from himself… People this distraught person doesn’t even know risk their lives to save a burdened stranger!
Selah.
BUT IS SUICIDE FORGIVABLE?
Some think not. But a lot think wrong. There is, Beloved, only one sin that is unforgivable:
Matthew 12:30-31
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Beloved: please be clear. The Scripture above applies to THE ONLY UNFORGIVABLE SIN! A Christian, who does blasphemies the Holy Spirit has chosen to become an apostate; never wanting nor able to come back to Christ Jesus!
Hebrews 6:4-6
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
What does this mean? Christians who become apostates will never repent, don’t want to and are not allowed to. Simple.
They are now those forever outside of God’s covenant and damned:
BUT THIS IS A JOY STORY…
Anyone who hates God upon their death will be damned. Is that you? Anyone who claims Christ as their only Lord and Savior is born again, born from above.
THE CHRISTIAN SUICIDE VICTIM is just that – a victim. We all have been. And we only have victory in any particular situation, any doctrinal teaching, when we stand firm, unwavering, and acting on God’s promises which never fail. Certainly we all fail in faith at times. Did you ever stub your toe?
Psalm 91:11-12
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
THE SUICIDE MAN who follows completely through with self-murder is not thinking as his heavenly Father tells him. Obviously. We are to cast down vain imaginations and think of lovely, pure, beautiful things. Please remember: death is the last enemy. Satan has gotten hold this man thoughts and held on! And, this man has allowed it! Much to the Father’s sorrow, this man has relented God’s will for a long and satisfied life:
Psalm 91:14-16
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
The Christian man does love God; but he doesn’t always listen and obey Him. Do you?
I will never forget this wonderful teaching I learned from Pastor John Hagee regarding the suicide of a Christian. This is the Scripture he proved:
James 4:7
If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
To this day, after listening to Pastor Hagee for years and years, when I mention him I still have to check the spelling of his last name, choosing to be respectful and appreciative of him. Why do I say this? I forget, that’s why! A man committing suicide forgets or is accepting so much pressuring lies from the enemy of his soul; he gives in, he gives out, he gives up and takes what he thinks is the easy way out…
Selah.
BELOVED: THE POINT
Self-murder does not mean the grief-stricken man has cursed God! We don’t know his mind at the time he followed through with what pleases Satan and hurts God. In fact, we never know his mind! How many of you hear of a divorce, a crime, a terrible act of violence, by someone you thought was as good as gold?
Study people. Help people. But know who you are, who they are (to the best of your ability) – but remember only God knows all.
THE COMFORTING WORD:
Suicide is sin.
Suicide is wrong.
Suicide is forgivable in Christ Jesus!
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS JOY STORY:
THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH! GOD SAYS SO!
Nehemiah 8:10
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
THE ONLY UNFORGIVEABLE SIN FOR A BELIEVER:
Matthew 12:30-31
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
PLEASE NOTE: If you still believe suicide is not a forgivable sin, please read this over (and perhaps over and over…)
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
