THIS THANKSGIVING DAY IN AMERICA I will show you how you are able to have peace, joy, and fun if you are a child of God this special day and every precious day!
If not…
watch out!
(For those of you who hate God, ignore Him, or worship some stupid, sad, and evil false religion: peruse this website of mine and learn how to become safe in the protective arms of our true God Almighty, the God of the Bible!)
MAKE UP YOUR MIND!
Make up your mind to be thankful – and to whom! I have!
Selah.
I, myself, have had many kinds of Thanksgiving celebrations. The first one I’m thinking about right now was the day I was all alone all day long… Once again my mother and I were at odds. Still not a Christian, I had to stay away for my physical safety. Peace was not possible:
Romans 12:18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone,
Back at this time I had my own apartment, which I was thrilled about! I was plotting my own life.
NOTE: Stupid is what I was! I was still not making God my first love, my first priority! I was living to be happy…
Selah.
The guy I was dating at the time had invited me over to his family’s home for dinner. He cancelled shortly before (I should have dumped him then!) I’ve always believed he didn’t want his parents to think we were super serious.
SO: WHAT DID I DO TO MAKE A ‘GOOD’ DAY?
I made chocolate chip cookies that day and took them to work the next. The job I was at was very fun to me and satisfying at that time in my godless life. I earned my own money, paid my own bills, was a great tenant in a beautiful apartment, (respectful, clean and quiet) and enjoyed my weekends without drugs, cigarettes, and booze: at least I was that smart!
Being alone on one of favorite holidays and without choosing to honor nor love God, I did choose to make it a good Thanksgiving Day. (At least that is, in my pea brain mind. It’s not really possible to have a good day without loving the God who sees). Yet, His hand was on me; He was still calling me. I thank Him how very patient He was with me!
As a godless child, teenager, and young adult, still I’d always loved Thanksgiving. I knew about the pilgrims. I knew about America’s Thanksgiving Holiday. I knew they gave glory to God and thanked Him deeply for the food and for their very own survival. I knew. When I was a child and before my dad came down with Multiple Sclerosis, he was the one most of the time to make the Thanksgiving dinner. He’d always give a sample of his stuffing (it was the best!) I’d watch the Macy’s Parade and wait ‘patiently’ for one of my very favorite meals on one of my favorite days!
I knew and yet I didn’t bow, I didn’t bend. I wanted what I wanted and thought that was my biggest need! Fool!
Philippians 2:9-11
For this reason also God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
If you remember, God had asked me if I had one word to describe my childhood, what would it be? It didn’t take long to come up with it, not even five minutes. “Horrible.”
MY POINT:
You are not a product of your environment as some say. You choose life or death, love or hate, holiness or sinfulness, Heaven or Hell. You choose!
Selah.
All of my Thanksgiving Days are now aa true thanksgiving celebration to God! After I finally decided to bend and bow I have never and will never turn back. Be warned! There are true Christians who have; they are called apostates and there are plenty of them:
Hebrews 6:4-6
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
I promise you, that will never be me! God is too worthy for me to ever blame Him for any evil difficulties I’ve gone through a lot! Like Apostle Paul, all my attacks are only light and momentary!
2 Corinthians 4:13-18
It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Selah.
I would never point a bitter finger towards Him, cursing Him for lost loves:
Matthew 10:32-39
“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
My Thanksgiving Days have been real thanksgiving days for years now! Praise God! And this is what I want yours to be! Don’t let the temporary hardships, challenges, and losses ruin your life. Be eternal in Christ!
Decide now!
Believe in the promises of God and keep Him first in your hearts! He is worthy! Please remember: He wipes away every sorrowful tear from our eyes in Heaven!
Do you want to know what my very favorite holiday is now as a Christian? Easter! Why? The tomb is empty and the blood is available for all who want a blessed and full Thanksgiving Every Day!
MORE SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS JOY STORY:
Isaiah 25:6-8
On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.
1 Peter 1:14-21
As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
Revelation 7:11-17
All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!” Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?” I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. ‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”
Revelation 21:1-3-4
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
