I’ve been seeing a lot of comments about thanking a first responder. I always have! Hope your heart is loving to do so too…
My husband, as many of you know, is an emergency room nurse. He got laid off from a totally different occupation years ago. I think he was forty at the time. (I’m not great at keeping track of times and dates.)
Duane prayerfully and also methodically decided to go back to college to begin his new career and lifestyle. In the past he had considered being a policeman in Los Angeles. Another idea was to be a doctor. Either way, I would have been 100% plus supportive of him. (This was before I met him.)
Well, his crabby grandmother talked him out it being a policeman. I would have countered her! Do what you want to do…
Becoming a doctor was his decision. Again, I didn’t know him yet. He tells me his grades were not going to be good enough: I tell him, he just didn’t want it enough because he is that intelligent!
My husband, Duane Harold Turner, turned sixty-four this March, 2020. He’s been a nurse many years now and I’ve been completely supportive and thankful he’s doing what he wants. And what he wants has to be what God planned for him because it is what he is supposed to be doing.
AND WHAT I WANT TO SAY ABOUT DUANE is this
I am so thankful that in this certain time he trusts our great God. We pray together, take the Lord’s Supper together (at home; which we’ve been doing for years) and then he goes off and leaves me.
My soul is saved and I know Duane and I will both be with the Lord one day in His very presence… In the meantime, I share my husband of over forty years with strangers: with drunks he helps not only to survive, but to end the addiction (same as devotion) to an alcoholic product that satan wants to use and destroy that precious, but non-sober man. Duane cares about him deeply and shows great respect. I share Duane with little old ladies, in their right mind or not. He calms their fears and relieves their pain. Duane has had grown men thank him through tearful eyes for saving their life when they’d been thinking there’s no way I’m going to make it.
How many dead people he’s helped respectfully prepare to be sent to the morgue, I don’t know. He goes on…
Every time he leaves for work we kiss, we smile and I am thankful Duane is a servant, a humble servant, of God Most High.
AND IT WILL NOT END.
During the corona scare, Duane does not. My husband, my love, prepares himself spiritually and naturally each time he enters his place where God has selected Duane to be. He knows Duane is more than equipped to fight the good fight.
Selah.
He will don whatever nursing attire he needs for the patients he loves. Yes! Whether they be strangers who have done it to themselves, a little child with a possible concussion, an elderly gentleman who should not have been driving, a teenager who struggling with the meaning of life, or a brother in Christ from our own church: Duane gives his absolute best to each and every one for he loves them. He knows their value!
Ephesians 5:1-2
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Beloved, I encourage all of you daily to speak out loud the complete Psalm 91: it covers all the protections you need. And if you are not a child of God, here’s how to have the peace, joy and servitude Duane has:
God in Heaven,
I come to You in the name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus. I have sinned. I believe and know that Jesus is God. He lived a sinless life, took all my sickness and infirmities and died on the cross for my sins. I believe and know that He was raised from the dead so I might be saved and have eternal life in Your Kingdom.
Jesus, I ask you to be my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me of my sins and wash them away with Your holy blood – never to be remembered again.
I will now strive to live my life for You to my best ability and with the help of You, Holy Spirit. I strive to seek You, study You and worship You all the days of my life, which are forever, amen!
I denounce satan and his kingdom now and forevermore!
I also ask to be baptized in You, Holy Spirit, with the evidence of this by praying in other tongues, my heavenly language. (To receive your heavenly language – take it by faith – just as you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Simply start speaking syllables – do not say anything in your known language/s. It WILL come – just believe. satan will tell you it is false – never listen to the father of lies. Pray in tongues every day!)
Thank You, God, for forgiving me, cleansing me, staying with me and praying with me.
In Jesus name, I pray this, amen.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
Romans 10:9-10
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Acts 2:4
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
1 Corinthians 14:2
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
DO NOT BE DECEIVED!
YOU MUST CONTINUE YOUR RELATIONSHIP AS A CHILD OF GOD!
LIVE THIS WAY:
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Hebrews 3:14
We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
Revelation 3:5
The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
