THE CHRISTMAS OF 2021 had been an extraordinary Christmas season for my husband and me…
This past year we got new windows for the majority of our home: and let me tell you, it was no small endeavor. In fact, the work was basically finished just this last month – Christmastime, busy time, rejoicing time, (as every day is in the Lord), cooking / baking time, wrapping time. Oh yes, shopping time…
Selah.
But I’ve always refused, absolutely / solidly refused, to curse Christmas or any of the components Duane and I choose to engage in to celebrate the birth of our LORD of lords and KING of kings!

NOTE: this is a special hit at those who hate God, who choose to pretend He doesn’t exist, who ignore the fact that they need the One and only Savior and Lord of their world and mine… And yet, they wickedly say: “Merry Christmas!”!
These new windows we had installed became another witness for God’s glory. Everything does, in fact. All you have to do is live in Christ, meditate, look and find His wonderful bursts of dialogue everywhere; whether it’s His still small voice or His blasting a glorious sunset or so many other wonders of His love! When you want to find God, you will.
Selah.
And this is what God gave me about
windows…
Let’s go now to this finished (almost finished project – just waiting for some of the screens) endeavor. I will deflect all the particulars and concentrate your thoughts on windows… windows without curtains, windows without drapes; without blinds and without shades.
Windows let the light shine in and windows expose darkness.
Duane and I had nothing covering our windows for weeks. It got to be very interesting. Much more than I would ever have imagined. Our windows are now bigger as well as clean and bright in the morning sun and exposing darkness in the evening.
Our former windows had what I call lattice. My expert refers to them as grille. The lattice is an unnecessary part of a window. Smaller squares within the window or other patterns, such as diamond shapes, make a pattern in windows which take away more view. Ours were on each window that were taken off with great care and thrown away. No longer needed and absolutely no longer wanted. These windows were old and unbecoming. In layman’s terms: they had seen their day.
After the old was gone and the new had come Duane and I keep thanking God for the new! Not only, as I had said, were they bigger; they now had solid oak wood frames rather than painted white. I will never understand how anyone can appreciate painting wood. Keep in mind, beloved: that is just an opinion. It is relative to each person’s artistic tastes. I love oak – I love wood furniture. That’s my style.
Moving on though, as we went for an extended time without window coverings, I began to purposefully look out each window I passed by. It was and is great! Enjoying the views from each room this new way is very exciting and enlightening! I now saw the entire backyard much easier and clearer at an easy glance (remember, the lattice is gone.) At night when I was home alone I could see if there were any bunnies hopping around in my yard, and even across the street. I could have easily seen any person lurking in my yard or very nearby.
NOTE: criminals are stupid. Many years ago I found footsteps in the snow from a person peaking into our garage. What a dummy!
You know Satan wants us all to fear. It is a choice and it is wrong not to trust God wholeheartedly. He wants me to be afraid to be home alone at any time of the day; but especially at night. He wants me to be afraid to take the dog out in the dark, look out my windows without coverings, let people see in…
Selah.
But God showed me a lesson in windows. In fact, more than one.
He showed me all those weeks that nothing came into my yard that was potentially dangerous. No person tried to break in, no dangerous coyote came near. There were no flames of a fire.
Beloved, as I looked out these naked windows, God revealed to me how He sees everything. Covered or uncovered. Of course, I’ve always known this. But He also helped me relieve more the fears I’ve had in the past. God comforted me through naked windows…
I am more confident now that it is rare that someone would try to come to steal, kill, and destroy – unlike the devil himself. It is easier for me to be out in the dark after staring at in an easy fashion.
God also relayed to me light. When I’d turn on a light and the darkness fled, I couldn’t see all the things I saw in the dark. And the dark can be scary to anyone who lets it be…
Selah.
Yes, the view from naked windows taught me a lot and I am thankful to God for this very revealing lesson.
God is light. In Him there is no darkness at all.
And when I stay in contact with the Light, darkness has to flee!
See how simple God makes His lessons for us to learn more about His presence? Turn on the light!
Selah.
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FROM THIS JOY STORY:
1 Chronicles 29:11
Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.
Ecclesiastes 7:25
So I turned my mind to understand, to investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly.
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
1 John 3:8
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
James 4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 John 1
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
