On Saturday (November 11th) I put the new sheets on our bed…
I don’t believe in having an extremely feminine bedroom when you’re married (husband and wife only please.) Our bedroom has dark forest green walls, beautiful wooden dresser and night stand, hardwood floors, and a green patterned rug. You might say it’s a bit on the masculine side.
I chose it and I love it! Of course, I asked Duane if he would like this theme – I knew he would – and he does! Oh, also above the bed is a lovely winter scene. Which leads me to our new sheets. Because it’s November in Minnesota, cold weather and snow has already been here; so, our sheets are flannel. They are unique to me. They have a cream-colored background and various winter green (and brown) trees covering the scene. Very wintery. Very handsome!
Selah.
I’m the laundry girl and I weekly wash the sheets. I wanted again (or so I thought) to order these new ones in king size – our bed is queen size, plenty big.
DUANE WAS RIGHT! Did you hear that wives?! Duane was right! He wanted to order them in queen size and I was so sure the last pair was in king size…
I WAS WRONG!
(Please note: I also put ‘I WAS WRONG!’ in caps just as ‘DUANE WAS RIGHT!’ – I am an honest woman.)
The sheets do work, I don’t have to struggle to put on the fitted sheet, and it still works very well –
but –
DUANE WAS RIGHT!
And the moral of this marriage story is: I told him so!
MARRIED IN 1979:
All glory to God, admit when you’re wrong; even if it’s a mistake and not a sin! You know we’ll enjoy those sheets even more now!
Selah.
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS JOY STORY:
The first three set of Scriptures regard God’s perfect plan for marriage;
the rest all focus on the sin of liars.
Genesis 2:20-25
So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Malachi 2:13-16
Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. “The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the Lord Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.
Matthew 19:3-9
Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?” “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” “Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?” Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”
Psalm 10:1-6-7
My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me;
the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me. No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.
Proverbs 6:12-15
A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth, who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his heart—he always stirs up conflict. Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.
Ephesians 4:25-26
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
Psalm 10:1-6-7
My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me;
the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me. No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.
Proverbs 6:12-15

Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.
Ephesians 4:25-26
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
Revelation 21:6-8
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
