Recently I watched a man coming in to steal and willing to murder.
Selah.
Another man was already there. I saw him turn, standing still and calm and looking at this evil person. In a life-saving decision, the gentleman (who turned out to be a Marine) grabbed the criminals arm, pointing it upwards so that no one would be shot. With his other hand he punched the man severely in the head, making certain to disable him. It was necessary! It was right! And it was beautiful!
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY WE CHEER when bad people get ‘what’s coming to them’? I have. I’ve wondered why we cheer, or if it’s even right, when a criminal is stopped by force, when a gunman is shot dead (probably going to Hell)?
The answer truly is there. And it is easy to understand…
Selah.
I’m addressing this reaction to God’s children, we saints. We who love the only true and living God love truth because that is just one of His attributes: truth. As far as the rest of you, you who do not love Him, don’t take time for Him, I always pray for you! We cheer because evil has been stopped! That particular person is no longer much of a threat if they are captured, arrested, (at least for a time) or killed.
NOTE: Killing and murder are two different things. Killing is not sin: as in the case of the innocent stopping the wicked. Murder, on the other hand, is a chosen sin. Study it out in the original biblical languages.
God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. These, of course, would include unrepentant sinners who have raped, beaten, kidnapped, and murdered (and more.) Please see the applicable Scripture below.
What so many people who are lost don’t understand is that God is holy, holy, holy. And yes! That includes love! But love is also love of truth – that’s God – and loving truth thou shall not want to return evil with evil or start the evil…
The Israel (In this case: Israel is every Godly Jewish person) and the Church want God to lead them. In no way are the believers arrogant in wanting their will above their Almighty.
Selah.
It is holy to cheer for evil to be stopped. And sometimes it has to be by physical force. This is so easy to understand: and, it is so easy to enjoy the victory without enjoying the pain of the sinner… We remember how we are saved by God through His grace, the faith He has given and us, and by His mercy. We know too, that we had earned our way to the Great White Throne Judgement, to Hell, and only have escaped by accepting the gift of God: His one and only Son.
THE FINAL STATEMENT:
We never cheer the death of the wicked. Like God, we grieve. It is not His will that any should perish to Hell. Nor can it be ours.
When a dangerous man (or woman) is captured and not killed, thank God! not only for the innocent being protected – but also that this perpetrator may possibly still have a chance to repent, falling at the Lord’s feet now in reverential fear rather than trepidation! Amen and amen. The desire for this to occur is truly God’s heart, Israel’s and the Church’s.
SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS FOR THIS JOY STORY:
John 17:28-29
Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.”
Ezekiel 18:21-23
“But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live. Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
Isaiah 6:1-4
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
Revelation 4:11
Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”
Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
Ezekiel 18:23
Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Along with this website, Ann is the author of Joy Stories, Volume One and The Free Incarcerated Man. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
